National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

To commemorate the upcoming Day of Truth and Reconciliation (Sept 30th) the Local has ordered Orange Shirt Day pins for the membership.

These pins are Canadian made and union made.

We will be making them available to the membership in the hopes of supporting local organizations that are working to advance the issues of Indigenous rights and to show our solidarity with those organizations and activists.
We are asking that you make a donation to

If you would like us to send you one of these beautiful pins, please fill out this form:

and email me a copy or picture of the organization that you made a donation to. We suggest a minimum donation of $20.00.
We will get you a pin immediately. If you want more than 5 pins, just send me an email and let me know how many you would like.

The Local encourages anyone who has been working with or supporting a local Indigenous organization working to advance Indigenous rights to tell us about it. Examples of this could be:
• attending an event such as a rally or commemoration the org holds in your community
• writing letters of support, articles in the media
• participating in an educational or awareness-raising activity held by the org
• another concrete way you have supported the org
If you have been doing any of these, please send us a photo or write-up or both.  We will share it on the website.

In solidarity and on behalf of the Local executive,
Denise
